Susanne Ebel studied electrical engineering at the University of Stuttgart. After that she completed the doctoral thesis (PhD) in the research field reliability of automation systems at the Institute of Industrial Automation and Software Engineering at the Computer Science, Electrical Engineering and Information Technology faculty of the Universität Stuttgart. Since 2002 she is working in the Chassis Systems Controls Division, first in the development of electronic braking systems and later the change to the driver assistance systems. Currently she is senior expert and team leader of functional safety in the department "safety & validation highly automated driving". Main focus is on the introduction and application of functional safety and SOTIF into the product development process as well as the support in the development of safe products.
Focus: Validation according to ISO 21448:2019 SOTIF
Verification and validation are the key activities in ensure safety of the intended function. While verification focusses on the process of rendering known unsafe scenarios safe, validation is the part that is looking into the unknown unsafe scenarios. In this workshop, we will discuss both verification and validation strategies and then concentrate on validating the SOTIF.
