Director, Functional Safety Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems LLC
Gary English is Director of Functional Safety for Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems LLC, a member of the Munich, Germany-based Knorr-Bremse Group.
Applying many years of experience in automotive electronics, software, and functional safety, Gary has led the institutionalization of functional safety at Bendix since 2012. He is responsible for roll out of the 26262 functional safety standard across the company’s product lines, as well as maintaining corporate focus on functional safety into the future as the standards evolve. Prior to joining the organization, Gary served over 29 years in a wide range of management and engineering roles at Delphi Electronics and Safety, with heavy emphasis on software engineering, functional safety, and the associated development processes and tools.
His industry involvement currently includes membership in the Society of Automotive Engineers, a member of the SAE Functional Safety Committee, a member of the US Technical Advisory Group to the ISO Functional Safety Standard working group,and a member of the ISO sub-working group currently focused on recommendations to enhance ISO 26262 for the Truck and Bus commercial vehicle markets.
Gary is a certified Automotive Functional Safety Professional, and also holds a Software Architecture Professional certificate from the Software Engineering Institute. He holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana.
